Where Are Paros And Naxos?

The Greek islands of Paros and Naxos lie very close to each other and not too far from other popular tourist destinations such as Mykonos and Santorini. Paros is one of the most beautiful landmasses in the country. 

It is located right in the heart of the Aegean Sea and is famed for its stunning coastline and lively nightlife scene. Naxos lies 13 nautical miles to the east. It is one of the largest landmasses in the Greek archipelago and has also earned high regard for its coastline that is characterized by sweeping sandy bays and bright turquoise waters.

How to get to Paros

Paros has its own domestic airport. You can catch a flight from the Athens International Airport and be on the island in no time. After landing, the island’s main city of Parikia lies just a short drive away. If you’re wanting to travel directly from any of the islands, you will need to catch the ferry.

How to get to Naxos

Naxos also has its own airport. The flight from Athens takes around 45 minutes. Much like Paros, you also have the option of getting to the island by sea. You can catch a ferry from destinations such as Athens, Santorini and Amorgos. The length of the journey can vary significantly, from one hour to nine.

Chrissi Akti, commonly known as Golden Beach, is one of the best beaches in Paros. The sublime coastline is absolutely gorgeous, with golden sand shores and aquamarine waters. After swimming in the ocean, you can go for a bite to eat in one of the on-hand restaurants or for a drink at the bars.

One of the best things to do on Naxos with children is take a cheesemaking tour. The little ones can learn all about the traditional methods used by the locals before getting involved themselves. All of the excitement takes place on a cheese farm where you can meet the working farmers and animals.
