Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Athens to Nafplio & Mycenae

Our driver will meet you at Athens International Airport or your Athens hotel, with your first stop bringing a spectacular view from the famous canals that links the Corinthian to the Saronic gulf. You’ll explore the 4th-century BC theater in Epidaurus and then head to the country’s first capital, Nafplio where you can climb the 999 steps of Palamidi Castle or hop on a small boat to visit Bourtzi which floats in the bay. There will be time for an optional lunch followed by a visit to ancient Mycenae and its archaeological site which includes the tomb of Agamemnon, before arriving at Olympia.

    Day 2 Olympia

      Day 3 Delphi

      Enjoy breakfast followed by a visit to the famous archaeological site of Delphi, visiting the ancient theater, the oracle that was one of the most powerful religious institutions in ancient Greece, and the Museum of Delph with its remarkable bronze ‘Charioteer’ statue. From there, head to the mountainous village of Arachova where you’ll have time or coffee or lunch. We recommend sampling its famous traditional cheese, formaella with its sweet-smelling aroma, it’s one of the most popular cheeses in Greece. Continuing through Central Greece, you’ll spend the night at the base of Meteora in the small town of Kalambaka.

        Day 4 Meteora & Return to Athens

        Today you’ll get to visit the monasteries atop the dramatic rocks which house priceless religious and historic treasures. Climb the rock staircase to reach the sacred places that monks and nuns still inhabit today, which may include Varlaam, founded in the 16th-century, sitting on a rock that rises nearly 1,250 feet in height. Take in the magnificent view from your rocky perch and then step into the 15th-century Monastery of St. Stephan which houses a museum that contains Byzantine and Christian artifacts. Afterwards, it’s time to return to Athens, with a stop along the to admire the statue of Leonidas at Thermopylae.
