Fabulous trip on the Bellissima but the land tour a week before not so much

The time on the boat was 5 stars with an excellent cruise director, friendly staff and wonderful excursions. However, the land portion which preceded our time on the boat the had some issues. The guides were excellent and except for the last hotel the lodging was convenient and very good. On the negative side when we were transferred from Slovenia to Rovinj there was not time provided for lunch?? Two days later when we transferred from Rovinj to the hotel near the Plitvice National Park they not only didn’t provide any time for lunch but they also didn’t provide enough time to tour the first national park We left Rovinj at 10. There was no time for lunch and by the time we had checked into our hotel and were driven to the park it was 4pm. There was no specific information or guide for the park. It is a huge park and basically we were dropped off at the entrance to the park. A big disappointment. Finally we were booked into Hotel More in Dubrovnik. It was located a long way from old town. The room was $464 a night ( we stayed an extra day) and compared to all the other hotels we stayed at the service was quite poor and the majority of the staff pretty unfriendly. There are many hotels as nice within walking distance of old town so why not stay closer? Our friends moved to the Excelsior and the difference in the way guests were treated was nite and day. Finally the Hotel has extremely poor security. They have an entrance to the hotel in a second building which is at street level and which is open 24/7 that doesn’t require key access nor does the elevator.
