Sarakiniko Beach, Milos
Located on Milos Island, Sarakiniko beach is something special. Found along the north shore, this extraordinary area looks as if it’s from another planet, often compared to a moonscape with the white volcanic rock having formed into incredible shapes over time, carved by the north winds.
The Monastery on Sifnos Island
The setting sun casts a surreal orange glow over the Monastery of Panagia Chrissopigi on Sifnos Island. Set atop a rock that juts out of the aquamarine-hued sea, the monastery is considered the most important in Sifnos and its one of the most famous, hosting an icon believed to work miracles.
Red Beach, Santorini
Santorini is home to some of the world’s most unique beaches, like this one. Red Beach near the famous archaeological site and town of Akrotiri, is extraordinary, framed by dramatic fiery-colored cliffs that disintegrate into scarlet sands below, with the waves of the sapphire Aegean crashing against it.

Prassa Beach, Kimolos Island
Kimolos is famous for its stunning beaches and Prassa is especially enchanting with its pristine white sands, the result of the layers of chalk that make of the island, contrasting beautifully against the brilliant turquoise sea. The calm water is ideal for a dip and you might just encounter a Mediterranean monk seal, with the animals often seeking shelter in this tranquil cove.
New Year’s Eve in Thessaloniki
The country’s second biggest city, the capital of the Macedonia region of Northern Greece is a wonderful place to be for the holidays, including New Year’s Eve. Thessaloniki is famous for its parties, and visitors are truly in for a treat when the sky over Aristotelous square lights up with thousands of fireworks that are launched at sea from two barges anchored off the coast.
Voulisma Beach, Crete
One of the most beautiful beaches on Crete, Voulisma, also known as the Golden Sands, sits along the eastern part of the island near Agios Nikolaos City in Istron Village. Its white sands are dotted with sunbeds and shady umbrellas and provide the calm blue waters of the bay with their ethereal hue.

Santorini’s Bue and Whie

Giola, Thassos Island
Thassos is a jewel in the Aegean Sea, one of the greenest of Greek islands, famous for the Giola Pool. A natural lagoon in a remote area surrounded by precipitous rock that reaches as high as 26 feet, it’s ideal for cliff jumping and swimming. As the rocks are sculpted like a terrace, it’s easy to get to the top.
Splashes of Color on Patmos
There are many charming towns throughout the Greek Islands, with gorgeous splashes of color around nearly every corner. You’ll find no shortage of alluring streets to explore – wander through Skala and discover all sorts of delights while on Patmos, the island once described by Forbes magazine as the “most idyllic place to live in all of Europe.”
Meteora in the Fall
Set high atop rocky outcrops about four hours from Athens, Meteora is one of the largest pilgrimage sites in all of Greece. Its name translates to ‘suspended in the air,’ with the dramatic cliffs rising over 1,200 feet into the sky overlooking the villages of Kastraki and Kalambaka. It’s the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, dating back to the 14th-century.
Voidokillia Beach, Pylos
One of the most stunning beaches in all of Europe, Voidokillia Is located in the picturesque seaside town of Pylos on the Peloponnese Peninsula in Messinia. It’s rumored to be the spot mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey. Its soft sands form a semicircular strip of dunes that frame crystal-clear azure waters, and one the land-facing side is Gialova Lagoon, an important bird habitat.
Colorful Parga
Located in the northwestern area of Preveza overlooking the islands of Antipaxos and Paxos, Parga is an Epirus gem. Its cobbled streets are lined with colorful Venetian mansions. Get lost among them and you’ll discover fabulous shops and eateries. There’s also castle that was used for centuries to protect inhabitants from invaders, while exotic beaches with lush surroundings and turquoise waters are nearby.
Apeiranthos, Naxos
One of the most picturesque villages in all the Cyclades, mountainous Apeiranthos on Naxos not only offers timeless beauty with marble paths and stone-built homes, but it’s becoming an increasingly popular foodie destination with lots of fantastic traditional eateries for sampling just-baked breads, homemade cheeses and local meats.

Pozar Hot Springs
While few outside of Greece are familiar with them, Pozar Hot Springs located near the border of the Republic of Northern Macedona close to the base of the Voras Mountains offer the chance to soak in beautiful warm pools and stand beneath gorgeous waterfalls while surrounded by the lush, green gorge.
The Blue Cave, Kefalonia
The Blue Cave in Kefalonia, officially known as Melissani Cave, turns blue when sunlight filters in, creating a spectacular scen. Inside there is a lake, reached by an underground passage with a boat ride heading to the center where the roof collapsed thousands of years ago. It created a natural window allowing the rays of the sun to flood in, painting the water with an incredible array of blue tones.

Nestos River
The Nestos Gorge is an incredibly lush oasis of nature in the National Park of Nestos Delta just east of the city of Kavala. It’s popular for outdoor venture like hiking, off-roading, horseback riding, mountain biking and rappelling, as well as activities on the river like rafting, canoeing and hiking.
Nafplio
The seaport town of Nafplio is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece, with its 15th-century Bourtzi Castle sitting in the heart of the harbor, built to defend the city from pirates, keeping watch over the entrance to the bay as it has for over five centuries.

Possidi Cape
When you first step onto this sandbar that juts out into the bright blue sea in Halkidiki, you might think you’re in African’s Saharan Desert, until you see the stunning water on either side. Made up of fine white sands, its shape is ever-changing, but whether it resembles the tip of a spear or a hook, the views are intense, from the forested coastline of the west of Kassandra, across the Thermaic Gulf to Mount Olympus, the legendary home of the Greek Gods.
