It’s worth visiting the Museum of Greek Children’s Art, an art museum the kids are sure to love as all the works were created by artists from 4 to 14 years of age.
An exciting day trip to Cape Sounion is on the agenda today. Designed to please everyone in the family, including the kids, this private tour includes an insider child-friendly guide. It all begins with a scenic drive along the coast with a stop at a natural themed park. An urban farm, visitors can get their hands dirty, learn all about how foods are grown and watch some of that life sprout from the soil. Activities are fun and educational, including learning how to make tomato sauce using Greek herbs and olive oil. You’ll also be able to marvel at the Temple of Poseidon and witness a unique sunset at Sounio Temple before returning to Athens.
Enjoy another incredibly scenic drive as you take your car transfer to Pylos in Costa Navarino this morning. Located in Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese, it offers some of the most magnificent unspoiled landscapes in the Mediterranean. You’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy its rich history, pristine beaches and impressive ruins like Methoni Castle, a fortress built by the Venetians in the 13th century. You’ll be able to marvel at the ruins of a medieval town, a little church and stone bridges, taking advantage of plenty of great photo-ops. You might want to visit Voidokilia Beach with its unique geological formation, crystal-clear water and soft sands. It’s rumored to be the spot mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey.
Pylos (Day Trip to Olympia)
A day tour to ancient Olympia is sure to thrill all today. Enjoy the views of the Saronic Gulf islands along the way to the archaeological site and museum. You’ll join your knowledgeable guide to explore the birthplace of the Ancient Olympic Games which includes the remains of the stadium that once played host to the competitions, as well as the Temple of Zeus. Explore the museum which showcases artifacts uncovered in the area and then visit the local Association of Agriculture. Here you’ll be able to try various blends of olive oil and famous Greek olives – parents also get to enjoy some of the local wine.
With so much to do at your resort, you’ll have a full day to take advantage of it. Do as little or as much as you please. Costa Navarino is one of the top family-friendly resorts in the country, providing activities and entertainment options for all ages. There are specially designed hubs that provide recreational and educational programs, an Aqua Park and more. While the kids have fun, you might want to indulge in treatments at the spa with its extensive menu including scrubs, facials, wraps, thalassotherapy and couples’ massage. Just a few of the other options include golfing on one of two courses, mountain biking, road cycling and hiking.
In the morning, you’ll be picked up by car transfer, taken to Athens International Airport for your flight to Crete. Renowned for its stunning scenery and rich culture, there are many impressive beaches with crystal-clear waters for swimming, even pink stretches. You’ll have the rest of the day to unwind, enjoy some of what it has to offer, or both. Some of the best beaches for families are Elafonisi, Bali, Chrissi Akti and Falassarna. A fun day of exploring awaits as you get to experience the myths of Minos, Thesus, Ariadne, the Labyrinth and the Miniature which surround the grand ancient Palace of Knossos. An outdoor excursion led by expert pedagogues, it includes activities and games designed for families with children in a way that’s sure to keep everyone entertained. The program is based on the book At the Palaces of Knossos by philosopher and writer Nikos Kazantzakis. Look forward to walking through picturesque scenery as you play the games and take part in interactive activities. The event includes a picnic based on foods common to the Minoan diet too.
